Someone once asked me, "What is one of the greatest achievements you have accomplished to date," well, I'd have to say, becoming a father. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to adopt a girl from China. She and my wife are my daily joys in life. Being a father puts a perspective on things that only can come with having a child in your life. I am grateful, and work daily at being a good daddy.
With over 15 years of sales experiences, I have had my share of victories and moments I would rather forget. I will share with you one of my most embarrassing moments in sales.
My most embarrassing sales call was my very first telecom sales call. I was told "build rapport with everyone". So of course, the first person I met was the receptionist. Nervous and sweaty, and wanting to make a good impression, I said, "when are you due?" she said "Excuse me?" and, like an idiot I said, "when are you due?" She looked confused and then I got it... She was not pregnant. So, trying to change it, somehow, I said " Nice Hair dooooo!" I immediately left the office and skipped my appointment. But that was not the worst of it. After leaving, I realized I had left my planner behind. I had to drive back and pick up my planner from the receptionist, who was less than happy to see me again!
